Ever since 1888, when George Eastman found a way to make photography "as convenient as the pencil," we have depended on our cameras to record the people and events in our lives.
The invention of the digital camera heralded the advent of the "digital age" for photography. Recording and storing our memories digitally has now become "as convenient as the pencil!" Today, almost everyone, young and old, tech-savvy or not, possesses and can use a digital camera without first having to master the finer aspects of photography.
Digital Picture Frames
With the proliferation of the cell phone in today's world, we now have a plethora of mobile phones that can also take acceptable photos. In addition, those photos can now be sent wirelessly from one phone to another and to computers, social networking sites and photo sharing sites as well.
Because taking digital photos is so easy, we tend to take hundreds and hundreds of them. Before the digital camera, our pictures had to be printed out and this could be expensive. Even though we didn't take as many photos, we still had to painstakingly store the ones we did have printed in albums or boxes to protect them. Today's digital technology enables us to store endless numbers of photos in our cameras, on our computers, or on memory cards and flash drives.
The introduction of the digital photo frame at the beginning of the 21st century began the transformation of pictures viewed one at a time in static traditional photo frames to those viewed in controlled dynamic slideshows. Photo sharing took on a new life!
The digital photo frame of today ranges from simple photo viewing to those that can play music and videos to wireless ones that can connect to the Internet and retrieve photos and information in many different ways.
A digital frame frees up space on computer hard drives. Photos can easily be transferred from cameras and computers to frames. Or memory cards and flash drives, loaded with photos, can be inserted. And there is magic in a digital frame! It is sheer joy to sit down in front of a digital frame and watch a dynamic slideshow of the times in your life you really want to remember and savor.
Our lives are meant to be recorded and those precious moments are even more meaningful when shared with others. No matter how we share our lives, perhaps through the magic of digital frames, perhaps through the Internet via photo sharing sites or social media sites does not really matter. All people need to connect with others in order to lead happy, healthy and fulfilled lives. Anything that brings people together and connects them with others is important for the well-being of all.
